2ND ANNIVERSARY: Ini LG Chairman Hon. Inibehe Umah  Parleys Ini Women, Reaffirms Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

The Executive Chairman of Ini Local Government Area, Hon. Inibehe Umah, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to women’s empowerment, inclusive governance and the implementation of programmes that will improve the socio-economic wellbeing of women across the Local Government Area.

The Chairman made this known yesterday, October 7, 2026, while hosting women from the various wards and communities of Ini LGA as part of activities marking the second anniversary of his administration.

Hon. Umah described women as indispensable partners in the development of the Local Government Area, noting that their contributions to the growth of families, communities and society at large cannot be overemphasised.

He assured the women that his administration would continue to prioritise initiatives that promote their economic independence, enhance their welfare and create opportunities for them to contribute meaningfully to the development agenda of Ini LGA.

The Chairman also expressed appreciation to the women for their unwavering support, prayers and confidence in his administration, assuring them that the government would continue to work with them to achieve sustainable development across the Local Government Area.

In a significant display of political solidarity, the women, through a motion moved by the Councillor representing Ward 6, Hon. Sarah Joseph and seconded by the Councillor representing Ward 9, Hon. Best, endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno, Member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, and Member representing Ini State Constituency, Hon. Lawrence Udoide, for the 2027 general elections.

The women also passed a vote of confidence on Hon. Inibehe Umah, commending his administration for its performance in the last two years and urging him to seek a second term in office to consolidate the gains already recorded.

They said their endorsement of the political leaders and support for the Chairman were borne out of their confidence in the leadership, performance and developmental strides of the beneficiaries.

The women pledged to mobilise support for the endorsed leaders ahead of the 2027 elections and expressed their readiness to continue partnering with the Hon. Inibehe Umah-led administration in its efforts to transform Ini Local Government Area.

Dignitaries at the event included the Vice Chairman of Ini LGA, Hon. Veronica Bassey, member representing Ini State Constituency, Hon. Lawrence Udoide, Secretary of Ini Local Government Council, Mr. Ubong Mkpa, Coordinator, Office of the First Lady of Ini LGA, Dr. Eme Esiere, DG, Inibehe-Ini Campaign Organisation, Elder Edet Udoakang, Senatorial Woman leader, Mrs. Elizabeth Ibanga, Obonganwan Roseline Udofia, Councillors, Supervisors, women leaders, groups among others.
