UNICROSS VC Engages Okuku Campus Staff, Reaffirms Commitment to Professionalism and Student Welfare
Following her interactive engagement with students of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Okuku Campus, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Francisca Bassey, held a dedicated one-on-one interactive session with members of staff of the campus.
The strategic engagement focused on strengthening professional ethics, prioritising student welfare, and reinforcing high standards of academic and administrative conduct across the campus.
Addressing the staff, Professor Bassey emphasised that students must remain at the centre of all university activities, describing them as future leaders whose academic development and overall welfare must be carefully protected.
The Vice Chancellor declared that the University would maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards examination malpractice, result manipulation, corruption and other practices capable of undermining the integrity of the institution. She warned that any staff member found compromising academic standards or tampering with students' academic records would face appropriate and decisive disciplinary action in accordance with university regulations.
Professor Bassey also reassured staff of the administration's commitment to creating a conducive and rewarding working environment. She pledged that management would continue to improve working conditions and provide the necessary support to enable staff to discharge their responsibilities effectively and derive greater fulfilment from their duties.
She urged members of staff to remain committed to their responsibilities, uphold the highest standards of professionalism, foster unity and teamwork, and continually align their activities with the vision and mission of the University for sustained institutional growth and development.
Responding, members of staff of the Okuku Campus expressed appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for the engagement and commended her administration for what they described as equitable leadership across the University's three campuses in Calabar, Ogoja and Okuku.
The staff particularly appreciated the administration's commitment to fairness, noting that resources and opportunities had been made available across the campuses without discrimination or preferential treatment.
They also highlighted the transformative impact of the Vice Chancellor's administration, especially the introduction of professional development and training opportunities within and outside Nigeria. According to them, such opportunities have been made accessible to qualified and eligible staff across the University's campuses, contributing significantly to capacity building and professional growth.
The engagement further underscored the Vice Chancellor's commitment to maintaining an open channel of communication with both staff and students, while strengthening a culture of professionalism, accountability and shared responsibility across the University.
