The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has issued a directive to all undergraduate students residing in campus hostels to vacate their accommodation on or before Sunday, July 28, 2025.
The directive, conveyed through a memo signed by the Dean of Students, Prof. Patrick Egaga, follows the conclusion of semester examinations on Friday, July 25, 2025.
According to the memo, the evacuation is to facilitate routine renovation and fumigation of hostels in preparation for the upcoming academic session. Students are expected to return all university property, including mattresses and room keys, in good condition to their respective Hall Administrators. Additionally, rooms must be cleaned and left in proper order; failure to comply may attract sanctions.
The university also advised students to remove all personal belongings from their rooms, noting that it will not be held responsible for any items left behind.
However, exemptions apply to medical students residing in designated medical hostels, as well as international students with valid study permits. These groups are instructed to liaise with the Students Affairs Division for further arrangements.
The university urged full cooperation from all students to ensure a smooth and orderly transition.
