BREAKING: Businesswoman Abducted in Calabar South

By Our Reporter

A middle-aged businesswoman has been abducted by suspected kidnappers in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The victim, it was reported, is a businesswoman and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Joekate Enterprise located at Bassey Duke street.

Eyewitnesses who spoke exclusively to THE BEAGLE NEWS, said the incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday near the Target-Chamley Street axis when five armed men intercepted the woman and forced her into a waiting vehicle.

According to sources, the victim resisted and cried for help, but the assailants overpowered her and quickly whisked her away. Passersby reportedly attempted to intervene but were repelled as the kidnappers fired several shots into the air to disperse the crowd.

A good Samaritan was said to have alerted security operatives, who swiftly responded to the scene. A gunfight ensued, but the kidnappers managed to escape with the victim through the Abitu Beach waterfront, crossing over to the other side of the river.

As of the time of filing this report, operatives of the Nigerian Army, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, and Operation Okwok were reportedly combing the area and are said to be preparing for a possible pursuit across the river.

Further updates will be provided as more details emerge.
