UNICAL COUNCIL CLEARS 13 LECTURERS OF ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT ALLEGATIONS
The Governing Council of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has cleared 13 lecturers of allegations of academic misconduct.
The decision, conveyed in separate letters signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr. Mrs. Icha Chukwuka, was taken at the Council's 174th meeting, following its consideration and adoption of the report of the Complaints/Disciplinary Committee constituted to investigate the matter.
Those cleared include Professors B. E. Udoh, N. O. Chiaghanam and N. O. Egbe; Drs. V. C. Ikamaise, A. E. Egong, S. O. Paulinus and B. S. Ibe; as well as Mr. E. E. Akwa, all of the Department of Radiography and Radiological Sciences, who taught various courses in the department.
Also cleared were Drs. Mfon Akpaso, Anani Anani and Nsikak Umoh, as well as Mr. Williams Nnenna and Mr. Cletus Ajang, all of the Department of Anatomy.
Following a thorough consideration of the report and recommendations of its Complaints/Disciplinary Committee, the Governing Council directed that the affected lecturers be cleared, having found that the allegations of examination misconduct could not be substantiated.
The Council, however, advised the lecturers to exercise greater caution in the handling of examination matters and ensure that all unused sections of answer booklets are properly crossed out during future examinations.
