TOURISM: Cross River Govt Completes Redesign of Obudu Ranch, Set to Begin Reconstruction

By Judex Okoro

The Cross River State Government has announced the completion of the redesign phase of the iconic Obudu Ranch Resort and is set to commence full-scale reconstruction of the tourism landmark in the coming weeks.

The initiative is part of Governor Bassey Otu’s broader agenda to reposition Cross River as Nigeria’s leading eco-tourism destination.

Disclosing this in a press statement on Thursday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Obudu Ranch Resort, Mr. Sunday Michael, said the project aims to revitalise and reposition the resort as a premier destination for both local and international tourists.

“The redesigned Obudu Ranch Resort promises to offer world-class facilities and amenities, showcasing the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of Cross River State,” the statement read.

Mr. Michael noted that with the design phase completed, the government is now ready to move into the reconstruction stage, which will involve major infrastructural upgrades across the resort.

“This project is a testament to Governor Otu’s commitment to unlocking the vast tourism potential of Cross River State,” he stated. “Beyond aesthetics, the resort’s reconstruction will create jobs, stimulate local economies, and boost the state’s internally generated revenue.”

The Obudu Ranch Resort, located in the Obanliku Local Government Area, has long been one of Nigeria’s most picturesque tourist destinations, famed for its temperate climate, mountainous scenery, and lush greenery.

“We are excited to welcome visitors from across the globe to experience the breathtaking beauty of the Ranch in a new light,” the Special Adviser added.

The revitalisation of the resort is expected to contribute significantly to the Governor’s long-term vision of transforming Cross River into a vibrant tourism and investment hub.
