Aspirant for the Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Dr. Obah Edom Tawo, has taken his consultation to the grassroots with a symbolic visit to the Clan Head of Adun Kingdom, HRM Patrick Erong, where he sought royal blessings ahead of the 2027 elections.

The culturally significant visit highlights the growing momentum of Dr. Tawo’s aspiration, as well as his commitment to engaging traditional institutions and key stakeholders in shaping a people-driven political process.

Receiving the aspirant and his delegation, the Clan Head expressed admiration for what he described as a rare show of foresight and humility, noting that early consultation reflects seriousness of purpose in leadership.

While acknowledging the political dynamics of the race, particularly Dr. Tawo’s position in the opposition, the royal father offered prayers for wisdom, resilience, and divine guidance, stressing that leadership must ultimately be anchored on service, performance, and accountability rather than political affiliation.

He emphasized the unity and shared heritage of the Obubra people and neighboring communities, urging leaders to rise above divisions and prioritize collective development. The monarch also decried the disconnect often observed between elected representatives and their constituents, calling for a new era of accessibility and responsiveness.

The traditional ruler affirmed that the Obubra Traditional Brothers Council remains committed to supporting credible leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people, while advocating for greater inclusion of the community in governance processes.

In his response, Dr. Tawo described the visit as a deliberate and foundational step in his political journey, emphasizing that meaningful representation must begin with consultation and respect for traditional authority.

He pledged to run a people-oriented campaign anchored on accessibility, accountability, and sustained engagement, with particular focus on youths, women, and vulnerable groups across the constituency.

Dr. Tawo further assured that his aspiration is driven by a genuine desire to deliver effective representation and bring governance closer to the grassroots, noting that leadership must be defined by impact and consistent presence among the people.

Other traditional rulers present, including HRH Ovarr Sylvanus Uduma Ovat, Acting Paramount Ruler of Obubra and Clan Head of Ubibira, as well as HRH Chief Enyam Louis of Osopong Clan, offered prayers and words of encouragement, urging the aspirant to remain steadfast, uphold integrity, and remain committed to the expectations of the people.

The visit concluded with formal prayers and royal blessings, with the Clan Head assuring Dr. Tawo of spiritual support and expressing confidence in his commitment to service.

A visibly encouraged Dr. Tawo noted that securing the blessings of the traditional institution was central to his visit, reiterating his resolve to maintain close ties with the people and return for further consultations as his campaign progresses.
