The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has uncovered a suspected criminal hideout operating under the guise of a church, arresting seven individuals during a coordinated raid in Ndiya Mfio village, Ikono Local Government Area.

The operation, carried out in the early hours of Tuesday, April 8, 2026, followed credible intelligence indicating that criminal elements were using a facility named “All Power Belongs to God” as a cover for unlawful activities.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, said the suspects include one Brain Ebeka, popularly known as “Preacher,” alongside Kenneth Eziekiel, Dickson Ndueo, Abang Rowland, and three female suspects identified as Esther Elijah Okon and Joy Elijah Okon.

A search of the premises led to the recovery of two locally fabricated double barrel guns, five spent cartridges, four motorcycles, three industrial generators and ten mobile phones.

Other items recovered include a police crest, four jungle boots, a peak cap, a saw blade, a spanner, several vehicle number plates, five machetes, a special forces vest, bottles containing suspected spiritual substances and an enlarged photograph linked to ongoing investigations.

According to the command, preliminary findings suggest the facility was being used as a front for criminal operations, raising concerns over the misuse of religious platforms for illegal activities.

The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, has ordered a comprehensive investigation and directed security operatives to intensify efforts to apprehend a principal suspect who is currently at large.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling crime across the state, warning that individuals who attempt to conceal unlawful acts under any guise will face the full weight of the law.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information as efforts intensify to rid the state of criminal elements.
