PDP Central Endorses Ikem, Slams National Women Leader’s Plot

By Ekanem Asuquo

Stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River Central Senatorial District have thrown their weight behind the leadership of Venatius Ikem, reaffirming unity and loyalty to the state structure while vowing to resist plots to destabilise the party.

The decision was captured in a five-point communiqué issued after a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Planet Guest House, Calabar.

Signed by National Ex-Officio, Arc. Ekom Akonjom, alongside chapter chairmen and other leaders, the communiqué blasted the National Women Leader, Ms. Amina Arong, accusing her of colluding with former PDP members who defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The stakeholders alleged she facilitated their acquisition of PDP nomination forms with the intent to hijack party structures and hand them over to the ADC.

Reaffirming their support for the state leadership under Ikem, the stakeholders resolved that all elective positions across the senatorial district and local governments must remain in their current domiciled locations in line with the earlier zoning arrangement.

They pledged unalloyed loyalty to the PDP leadership at both state and national levels, vowing to work tirelessly to strengthen the party and secure resounding electoral victories.

The meeting, presided over by Chief Joe Obi Bisong, had in attendance key leaders including Mr. Fidelis Ekpah (South-South Zonal Ex-Officio), Prince Mike Ojisi (State Publicity Secretary), Barr. Ikpi Eyong Ubana (State Legal Adviser), Chief Mark Obi, Hon. Fred Okpa Osim, Hon. Friday Okpeche, Hon. Itam Abang, Hon. Moses Onoh, Mrs. Ada Izani, Mr. Ayuk Ntui Tandu, Prof. Walter Mboto, Hon. Inah Ubi, and Mrs. Margaret Onen Ph.D, among others.
