Nigeria's Qualification Hopes Hang in Balance as Bafana Bafana Hold Super Eagles to 1-1 Draw

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have played out a 1 - 1 draw against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
Nigeria's skipper William Troost Ekong scored an own-goal in the 25th minute to give South Africa the lead while Fulham fullback Calvin Bassey equalised through a header in the 44th minute.
Nigeria's chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup continues to hang on a balance with the one all draw against the Bafana Bafana.
South Africa currently leads Group C with 17 points, while Nigeria has 11 points after the game. Though on the same 11 points with Benin republic (3rd on the table) and Rwanda (4th on the table), Nigeria top them with goal difference of +2 while the later both have 0 goals.
As it stands, Nigeria needs to win all their remaining matches and hope South Africa drops points or faces points deduction due to the ongoing disciplinary case against them
