Obudu Mountain Resort Requires N200bn for Rehabilitation, Says It's Aide

The Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State, Comrade Sunday Michael, has disclosed that over N200 billion was needed for a complete rehabilitation and building of new infrastructure at the Obudu Mountain Resort.

Michael, Special Adviser on Obudu Ranch, who made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen, said rehabilitation and infrastructure will include an airstrip, three megawatt of power plant, the cable car, among others, adding that there are plans 

for building a housing units which is not included in the cost.

He said several private firms from Egypt, Indian and host of other foreign countries have been showing interest in the rehabilitation and building of these infrastructures on the resort.

According to Michael, "the government is in talk with several firms from different countries, and we are not surprised by these interests because of the potential of the resort.

"As we speak, talks are being concluded with UNIDO for the building of the three megawatt of electricity that will purposely serve the resort.

"The essence is to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the resort."

To ensure sustainability, the Special Adviser said the resort will be listed in three major world stock exchanges.

"The government led by Bassey Otu is trying to avoid the past experience where the resort is left to rot after the expiration of a particular administration of the state.

"When listed, private will majorly run the place while the government take backstage," he stated. Already we are in receipt of N5bn support from the federal government.

According to him, the fund is presently being channeled into remedial rehabilitation of the Obudu Mountain Resort.
