Nigerian Under‑20 midfielder Daniel Daga has been sentenced to six months in prison by the Nordmøre og Romsdal District Court in Norway following his conviction for a sexual act without consent.

Daga, 19, who plays for Molde FK, was also ordered to pay NOK 10,000, approximately ₦1.45 million, in court costs.

His lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, said the player maintains his innocence and has filed an appeal against the judgement, meaning the ruling is not yet final.

According to the defence, Daga insists the encounter was consensual and intends to challenge the verdict through the appellate process.

Under Norwegian legal procedure, the case will remain open until the appeal is concluded. Until the legal process is exhausted, the Nigerian international will continue to pursue his defence in court.
