The Nigerian Navy and other security agencies have declared zero tolerance for insecurity throughout the yuletide period and the annual Calabar festival in Cross River.
They also promised to ensure safety of lives and property across the state before, during and after the Christmas and new year celebrations.
The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Saheed Akinwande made the pledge on behalf of security agents in the state during the joint security fourth quarter route march in Calabar.
The FOC noted that security personnel needed to be fit in order to be effective as well as efficient in the vital role of securing the state and Country in general.
"We all know the importance of physical fitness and personal security, particularly during this festive period.
"As usual, we all need to prepare our minds and be ready for this significant period in the state where visitors come in from across the world to be part of the annual Calabar Carnival.
"Of course, we must bare in mind that while most of these guests would bring positivity, some will come with ill intentions.
"That is why we are putting in place robust security measures on both land and sea to ensure the success of the events and ensure safety of lives and property during the yuletide," he stated.
Akinwande concluded with a charge to the security agencies to maintain and sustain the harmonious collaboration that exists among them in the state.
The exercise in compliance with directive 253NG dated November 18, 2022, involves the active participation of Officers, Ratings, and Corps members.
The Nigeria Police, Department of State Security, NDLEA and others participated in the quarterly route march.
