In a prompt response and conformity to the governor's directive, operatives of the state special taskforce, Operation Akpakwu, Thursday, intercepted two trucks load of scrap metal in Calabar.

Recall that Cross River State Governor, Sen. Bassey Otu, in a release dated Tuesday, 25th July, and signed his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Edem Darlington, had ordered the immediate "suspension of all activities of scrap metal in the State until further notice."

The trucks had registration numbers KGM349 XA and UWN 634 XT. The drivers, Ozuah Elochukwu and Aruna Mohammed said: "we came in from Akwa Ibom State and were asked to deliver the scraps to a company located within the state capital."

Both trucks have been confined by the security agents and will be subjected to further investigation and further necessary action.
