UNIZIK VC Advocates Mutual Relationship Between Alma Mater and Alumni For Sustained Development

Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Benard Ifeanyichukwu Odoh, has called for a mutual relationship between the Amlar Mater and Alumni
on the University's alumni to play a crucial l role in advancing their alma mater.
Speaking at a two- day Annual International Convention of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Alumni Association held in Enugu over the weekend, Prof. Odoh noted that while alumni give back to strengthen the university, the institution should also provide valuable support and resources to its graduates.
Prof. Odoh, who is also an alumnus of UNIZIK, called for enhanced collaboration within the alumni body, particularly through improved networking and digitalized alumni operations, assuring the Alumni Association of his support and commended the outgoing National President, Engr. Kingsley Nwafor, for his laudable achievements during his term in office.
Represented by the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Prof. Samuel Ugwu, the Enugu State governor, Dr. Peter Mbah expressed satisfaction to the alumni for hosting the convention in Enugu.
In a keynote address, Chief Kenneth Ifekudu, represented by Prof. Pius Okoye, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences -UNIZIK, spoke on the convention
Speaking on the theme, “Innovation and Enterprise: The Role of Alumni Association Towards Digitization and Networking in the 21st Century.” Chief Kenneth Ifekudu, represented by Prof. Pius Okoye, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences -UNIZIK, emphasised the importance of building a robust alumni network to foster innovation and enterprise, critical elements in the university’s journey toward digital transformation.
The outgoing Alumni President, Engr. Kingsley Nwafor, outlined the association's achievements under his leadership to include the creation of additional alumni branches, including international chapters, and the initiation of an alumni secretariat as a central hub for graduates.
He also established an alumni endowment database and expressed gratitude for the support received from the national executives, council members, and the university management, urging continued support for the new leadership.
Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Chairman, Dr Chinedu Nwanko, commended all participants for their active engagement and announced the transition to new leadership during the event. He extended appreciation to the dignitaries present for their support and participation.
Highpoint of the convention was Award presentations to prominent figures, including Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Mbah, Sir Paul Chukwuma, Mr. Innocent Nwosu, Ambassador Frank Anyajiofor, Chief Emeka Ezeonu, and Chief Okenna Aguneche. The ceremony also inducted Dr Ikechukwu Umeh, Dr Emmanuel Ojukwu, Mr. Oseloka Ekwuno, Mr. Victor Obineme into the UNIZIK Alumni Haul of Fame
