UNICAL VC Inaugurates Academic Fraud Committee, Task Members On Upholding Institution's Integrity

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi, has has inaugurated the Academic Fraud Investigative Committee,( AFIC), urging them to uphold academic integrity in discharging their assignment.

Prof. Florence Obi, stated this through the Registrar of the University, Mr. Gabriel Egbe, in a letter of appointment to Prof. Lydia Abia Bassey as Chairman of AFIC and other members of the committee.

She said the Academic Fraud Investigative Committee (AFIC) is established to uphold academic integrity by investigating allegations of academic fraud referred to it.

The VC enjoined them to recommend appropriate actions to Management as a way of maintaining the credibility and standards of academic excellence in the University of calabar.

The appointment is for a period of two (2) years in the first instance and it takes effect from May 6, 2024.

Other members of the Committee are: Prof. Anthony Akpan of the Department of Physics, Prof. Francis Nwosu, of the Institute of Oceanography, Prof. Mrs Eko Atu of the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences, Dr Festus Arop of Educational Management Department while Barr. Hilary Nyiam Bisong of the Legal Unit will serve as the secretary of the Committee.
