OWAN VISITS AJEGUNLE SPORTS COMPLEX
Minister of sport in Nigeria, John Owan Enoh, has visited Ajegunle sporting complex popularly known as Maracana Sporting Complex.
The complex has 19 training pitches and a standard football pitch, which has produced big football stars.
The complex was once a sandy beach which harboured miscreants who indulged in negative vices, it will be transformed to a ground where sports talents are honed.
Owna said: "I salute Yemi Idowu for the renovation of the Maracana Sporting complex, it is the way forward for Nigeria’s sports. For me, it is not only a showpiece but a showcase of how our sports should go as a nation.
"It was Oniru of Iru, HRH Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, who fist mentioned this complex to me before the Director General Budget of the federation, Ben Akabueze, also mentioned it and visiting the place myself
" I more than understand why they kept talking to me about the complex. We must develop sports from the grassroots.
"It gladdens my heart to see children channel their energy positively through sports."
