RIVERS STATE JUDICIARY OPERATES LIKE A SUPERMARKET, SAYS APC CHAIRMAN
The Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) faction led by Tony Okocha has dismissed a recent court judgment nullifying its leadership, saying Judiciary in the state operates like a supermarket.
Reacting to the recent Rivers State Court judgment that sacked APC's recent state and local government congresses, Okocha said the court ruling is inconsequential, insisting that party's internal decisions remain supreme, irrespective of judicial rulings.
Further describing it as another example of alleged judicial manipulation under Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration at a press briefing recently, Okocha accused the Rivers judiciary of operating like a "supermarket" under Fubara’s control, claiming it serves the Governor’s political interests rather than justice.
“The judiciary in Rivers State has become Governor Fubara’s supermarket. The court ruling against us is of no effect because party decisions are supreme. The judiciary cannot dictate how a party functions internally.
“I pray for Governor Fubara, that he changes his life; otherwise, the wrath of God will descend,” Okocha warned.
But in a quick reaction, Jerry Omatsogunwa, Special Assistant to Governor Fubara on Electronic Media, rejected Okocha's assertions as unfounded.
Omatsogunwa enjoined Okocha to provide evidence to support his claims, pointing out that Governor Fubara is still an official member of the PDP.
