Obudu Women in Politics Endorse President Tinubu and Governor Otu for Re-Election

Obudu Women in Politics, A political pressure group has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu for another term in office. 

According to the group's president, Sylvia Atsu, the organization comprises distinguished women from various professional fields across the 10 wards of Obudu Local Government Area in Cross River State, united to promote good governance.

According to Atsu, “After carefully observing the performance of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu' over the past two years, we have decided to endorse them for re-election in 2027. This decision allows the leaders ample time to complete ongoing projects and continue delivering democracy's dividends”.

Also speaking, the Cross River State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Edema Irom, highlighted the government's commitment to gender issues, citing 150 women appointees and 23 permanent secretaries being women. 

Irom encouraged women to vie for elective positions, emphasizing the need for women to support each other.

Responding, the state Governor Senator BASSEY Otu represented by The state Commissioner for Information, Dr. Erasmus Ekpang, thanked the women group for their gesture and for the confidence reposed on him.

He showcased various development projects carried out by this administration to include, the renovation of the Governor's Office Complex and the state library complex, revamping of 198 PHCs, across the state, with a new hospital being built in Ikom.

The Governor however lauded the women for also finding the president worthy while reminding them of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway which Cross River state is a major beneficiary.

Conducting the official endorsement, the vice chairman of Obudu Local Government Council Hon. Ashong Rhoda Irung revealed that Obudu women have made up their mind to route for Senator Bassey Otu and President Bola Tinubu come 2027 while assuring that door to door mobilization will be done ahead of the 2027 elections.
