From Omaka OKOH, ABAKALIKI
TRAGEDY struck Nsokkara community in Ezza South local government area of Ebonyi state as a 40-year-old Ebonyi man, simply identified as Joshua Nwafor, has allegedly killed his wife, Charity, over a tuber of yam.
A community source disclosed that the incident occurred in the couple’s home, where they had lived peacefully for 17 years.
A witness, who simply gave his name as Agwu, said trouble started when Joshua brought out yam to cook for the family, but the wife insisted on having roasted yam instead and went ahead to roast it.
While Joshua was trying to persuade the wife to see reasons, the wife was busy shouting and raining abuses on him.
Amid the heated argument, Joshua got infuriated, pounced the wife and dragged her into the room, locked the door, and allegedly beat her to death.
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident, saying, "we would investigate it."
