Reactions Trail Over Postponement Of GSS Examination In Unical
By Abraham UKPA
There have been mixed reactions over the the indefinite postponement of GSS Examination slated to kick off from Wednesday, July 19, in the University of Calabar.
The postponement came a day before scheduled day for the examination, thereby leaving both parents and students in mixed reactions.
The change in the examination timetable was to enable some departments who are yet to finish their examinations to do so and join others in taking the examination, and to put up necessary logistics to ensure smooth exercise.
It was also gathered that the the institution's Main Library building which has been the major centre for CBT examinations in the University is on the verge of collapse. The situation had made the Management to direct for immediate evacuation of staff, students and property from the building.
Consequently, the University is making necessary preparations to use the Unical's publishing centre and the Post Graduate school buildings to the examination.
When Contacted, the director of information, Students' Union Government, University of Calabar, Comr. David Mayowa, said the date for the examination will communicated to students in due course.
Some students who spoke to the Beagle news on campus, expressed displeasure over the development, pointing out that some of them had finished their departmental examination a week ago and kept waiting for the GSS Examination, only to wake up to see memo for indefinite postponement of the examination. They maintained that their upkeeps had already finished and cost of living in Calabar is not friendly.
The students pleaded with the Management to clear the air on the issue of GSS Examination for them to know if they should go for vacation and take the examination by next semester in their own interests.
