Our General Election's Victory Against Formidable Opponents Is A Collective achievement, says Jarigbe

The lawmaker representing Cross River north sensational district, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has stated that the victory in the last general elections against formidable odds, is not merely a personal triumph but a collective achievement of unwavering determination and unyielding support.

Speaking at the thanksgiving service to mark his victory at the polls held at St. Benedict's Cathedral, Igoli Ogoja on Easter Sunday, Jarigbe described his victory as a collective achievement and thanked his constituents for their unwavering support for him.

In his words, "I promise the people of Cross River North that what I have done so far is a tip of the iceberg and am going to do more.

"Our victory in the recent general elections against formidable odds, is not merely a personal triumph but a collective achievement of unwavering determination and unyielding support.

As we gather here today to celebrate our triumph, let us not forget they our work has only just commenced.

"The challenges ahead are gargantuan, but so too is our resolve to overcome them, together, let us build a future that is brighter, more prosperous and inclusive for all", he said.

He thanked God for his victory, and all those who sacrificed in one way or the other for his victory saying their sacrifices have not gone unnoticed and he remains forever indebted for their selfless service.

In his message, the Bishop of Ogoja Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Donatus Akpan commended the Senator for being thankful to God and acknowledging the source of his blessings.

He charged him to live a life of service to his people and always be concerned about their welfare stressing that God gave him victory for the sake of his constituents.

Akpan in his homily from the book of John 20:1-9, emphasised the importance of acquiring daily bread legitimately and not through fraudulent means and urged politicians to prioritise the well-being of their constituents above their personal interests.

He called on Nigerians, particularly politicians, to uphold truth and honesty in their endeavour.urged politicians to stay true to their calling, reminding them that only those who shunned the truth would avoid associating with individuals of integrity.

It is high time Nigerians aligned themselves with the truth as progress is inevitable.

"I caution politicians against the temptation to engage in fraudulent activities or deceive the public they serve. I advise too against harboring thoughts of intimidation or defrauding others.

The office you hold should not be a medium for personal gain or abuse of power but a means to better then lives of your people.

"When people amass wealth and overlook the plight of the people around them, they are not Godly and not worthy to be called human.

Politicians must remain focused on their responsibilities, celebrating their achievements would be meaningless if they failed to fulfill their duty to serve the public selflessly.

Politicians must not disappoint God by disregarding the needs of their people," he stated." The Bishop celebrated the Cross River North Senator's character, describing him as a real "human being" urging him to remain concerned about the welfare of his people.

Present at the Thanksgiving Mass includes Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo and the Senator representing Rivers South East senatorial district and chairman, Senate committee on Works, Sen. Mpigi Barinada and member representing Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal constituency, Chief Peter Akpanke.

Others are Offiono Francis, representative of Ogoja/Yala federal constituency, Cross River, the state's PDP Chairman, Venatius Ikem, former Cross River Deputy Governor, Efiok Cobham among others.
