Otu has restored confidence in governance, Says Gilbert
By Judex OKORO
Special Adviser on Asset Management and Recovery to Gov. Bassey Otu, Gilbert Agbor, Esq, has stated that the Governor has restored confidence in governance through his bottom-top-approach.
Agbor said that the Governor has made the people the central focus of his administration since assumption of office in May 29, 2023.
The aide who stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in Calabar on Saturday, attributed the governor's performance to the reason why the people opted out of the ongoing hunger protest.
He particularly made reference to the release of N10 billion for the payment of gratuities to those who retired from the State civil service over two decades ago.
He said: "What has happened in Cross River is testament to say that our governor has been working.
"The people are satisfied with his performance and are willing to give him a chance to do more.
"The state has witnessed tremendous improvement in security level, the streets are wearing new look and he civil servants are happy with the regular and prompt payment of salaries.
"He has appointed the right people in the right position and those people are helping to make these things happen," he stated."
While noting that the First Lady of the state has always emphasised on the need for governor aides to deescalate politics and face governance, Otu's chief of Staff has constantly engaged with people at the grassroot on their needs.
"Whether we like it or not, Otu is in the right trajectory and thus the non- participation of Cross Riverians and other residents in the protest.
This is a confirmation that they are actually seeing what he is doing. To do otherwise is to disrupt the process.
"We have also seen the best of cooperation with the security agencies here in the State," he said.
