The state president of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Comrade Otabe Leko has hailed the state Governor Senator Bassey Otu for living the people first mantra and having the welfare of the workers at heart.
The president who spoke in an interview with pressmen described the Governor as one who is sensitive to workers welfare and their well-being.
According to him; “The hope of the civil servant is that their welfare is not taken for granted. For me as a worker, I see it as my no1 priority.
“The Governor celebrated us massively on workers day, recently he approved 70,000 minimum wage for workers, he is currently implementing promotions and also promised that by January he is going to restore the annual incremental step that had been blocked for over 12 years in the state.
“All this shows that there is hope for the workers as far as this administration is concerned” he added.
The state president however lauded the Governor for successfully institutionalizing governance at the local government level with the swearing-in of local government chairmen into the 18 local government areas of the state.
He maintained that this will not only strengthen governance at the local level but will also bring about infrastructural development.
