As  Women celebrate the 2025 International Women Day (IWD) globally, the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, Cross River state Chapter has tasked fellow Women to continue to be resilient, industrious, efficient and  steadfast in their various fields of endeavour.

A statement made available to the Beagle Newsroom, to mark the 2025 International Women's Day in Calabar explains that with  steadfastness the femalefolk can break barriers and close the gaps created by gender inequality.

The statement which was jointly signed by the Chairperson, NAWOJ, Cross River Mrs Rekpene Uket and Secretary, Maria Ewa notes that the
theme for this year's  celebration "Accelerate Action"  refers to the  collective strength and influence of women who have dedicated their lives to education, mentorship, and leadership.

According to the statement, the IWD is a day Women are recognized for their achievements without regard to division, national, ethnic, religious, cultural, economic or political stance pointing out that Women are not just contributors to society but its backbone as they nurture, lead, innovate, and inspire, despite challenges like gender  discrimination and bias.

It adds that women have continued to break barriers in every professional field, proving time and again that they are unstoppable and will continue to press on until the rights and value of the Woman is recognised in the Society.
