The Cross River State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) on Saturday, May 3, 2025, officially welcomed over 50 new members during a special integration meeting held at the party’s state secretariat.
Present at the meeting were key party stakeholders including the State Party Leader, Amb. Wilfred Otang; the State Publicity Secretary, Com. Nyambi Odey; Miss Mercy Ikpeme; and several other party faithful.
In his address, the State Chairman of NNPP, Barrister Anthony Ogboriku Odey—represented by the State Publicity Secretary, Com. Nyambi Odey—described the event as a major milestone in the party’s expansion and growing influence in Cross River State and across Nigeria.
“I warmly and gladly welcome you to this unique meeting. Today marks a significant milestone as we integrate new members into our wonderful family of noble men and women,” Odey said, expressing confidence that the new entrants had made the right political decision.
He emphasized that the NNPP is built on the principles of peace, equity, and progress, noting its position as the fourth largest political party in Nigeria following the 2023 presidential election.
Odey praised the leadership of Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, describing him as a shining example of NNPP’s commitment to good governance. “Governor Yusuf has done outstandingly well and deserves a second term without any doubt,” he affirmed.
He also introduced key figures in the party’s national leadership, including the party’s founder, His Excellency Engr. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; the National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed; and the National Vice Chairman (South South), Dr. Stanley Ijei. Odey informed attendees that they would soon be introduced to the full State Executive Council.
He further announced that membership cards would be issued at the local government and ward levels, where proper documentation would be completed and sent to the party’s National Headquarters. Soft copies of the party’s constitution, manifesto, and guiding philosophy would also be distributed by the Publicity Secretary.
Reiterating the party’s mission, Odey stated that NNPP is committed to rescuing Nigeria from poverty and insecurity, strengthening democracy, rebuilding national unity, and fostering economic growth that benefits all citizens. He also highlighted the party’s core values: trust, youth development, economic empowerment, equity, competence, transparency, patriotism, and justice.
“As new members, you are expected to participate actively in party activities, contribute to decision-making, and embody these core values in your actions,” he charged.
Concluding on an optimistic note, Odey said, “Let us work together to build a brighter future for Cross River State. Cross River State shall be great again. Welcome to the NNPP family.”
Speaking on behalf of the new members, Mr. Nelson Aniefon pledged their full support and loyalty to the party. He emphasized their commitment to service over monetary rewards, saying, “I am here to fight for righteousness, justice, equity, and transparency. Whatever is good, let us work for it.”
In his remarks, the State Party Leader, Amb. Wilfred Otang, encouraged the new members to remain committed to the growth of the party. “I charge you all to work tirelessly for the progress of the party. Togetherness is key; we must move forward as one,” he said.
