Cross River CROSIEC Chairman Vows to conduct Transparent Elections

The Cross River state Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) has stated its readiness for the forthcoming council elections.
The chairman of CROSIEC Dr. Ekong Edet Boco disclosed this in a stakeholders meeting held at the CROSIEC office in Calabar ahead of the Saturday polls.
Dr. Boco revealed that the commission has trained and deployed 9,843 ad hoc staff to each of the 3,281 polling units in the state with 3 of these staff members assigned to each polling unit across the state.
He further disclosed that the commission has trained 460 supervisors, 18 returning officers, and 196 collation officers who will be involved in the elections.
“Our ad hoc staff have been recruited from the community, properly trained, and have taken oaths of allegiance and confidentiality, so we expect them to conduct themselves appropriately” the chairman said.
While emphasizing that the commission is ready to conduct a credible election, he urged the public to trust CROSIEC and believe in the electoral process as it will be free, transparent and fair to all.
The commission however refuted rumours that results for the election had already been predetermined and filled.
“These are the blank result sheets and other documents to be used during the exercise, it is not true that the election results have been written already before the elections,” the chairman stressed.
