Gov Otu Tasks Corps Members On Development Of State

The Cross River governor, Senator Bassey Otu has enjoined Corps Members deployed to the State to contribute positively to the socio- economic development of their host community.
The Governor stated this today, at the official opening/swearing-in ceremony of 2024 Batch 'A' Stream 1 Prospective Corps Members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Obubra.
Governor Bassey Otu who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Odum-ljom Ukam said their contributions to the socio-economic development of the state will stand them out at the end of the service year.
He reminded them of the importance of making personal sacrifices during this period to prepare them for the enormous challenges of nation building that lie ahead.
The Governor said, his administration is people-driven, and is poised to create a conducive atmosphere for Corps Members to operate, assuring them that their welfare will be given top priority.
The Governor emphasized that the scheme against all odds has remained a veritable tool for national unity and integration.
While delivering his welcome address, the State Coordinator NYSC Cross River, Mr Zemoh Andrew said the three weeks Orientation Course is structured to prepare Corps Members for the compulsory one year national service.
Mr Zemoh said Corps Members will be exposed to Camp activities such as Leadership training, Drills, Lectures , Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training programme amongst others to prepare them for the future and called on them to be patriotic.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the administration of Oath of Allegiance on the Corps Members by the Chief Judge of the state, Her Lordship, Justice Akon lkpeme who was represented by the Judge of Obubra High Court, Hon. Justice Emmanuel Ubua.
