The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited will be the first buyer of Dangote's products, and NNPC representatives are currently present at the Lagos petrochemical facility to facilitate the delivery.

The Dangote Refinary has officially announced the commencement of petrol production at the Refinery. Speaking during a tour of the refinery in Lagos on Tuesday, the CEO of the refinery Alhaji Aliko Dangote said the Dangote refinery is set to deliver its inaugural shipment of petrol to the local market today.

Presenting the first sample of the petrol to press, Alhaji Dangote expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for permitting the sale of crude oil in Naira which will inturn reduce the demand for dollars by 40%.

"Right now, as we have this refinery working, it will show the true fuel consumption of Nigeria as we can track every single loaded truck and will try as much as possible to track loaded ships.

"Our commencement will eliminate all fuel queues in Nigeria, improve the health of everybody, and ensure a consistent supply to the market" he said.

Speaking on the availability of the products in the market, the CEO explained that the only thing holding the distribution now is the agreement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NPCL).

"Our Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) can be in filling stations within the next 48 hours depending on the NNPCL, as soon as it is finalised, which the president is pushing, it can be today, it can be tomorrow, we are ready to roll into the market.”

The refinery is set to supply an initial 25 million litres of PMS into the domestic market this September and will subsequently increase this amount to 30 million liters daily from October 2024 according to the management.
