Curfew: Otu Goes Tough On Insecurity, Clamps Down On Clandestine Groups

C

onsistent with his administration's commitment to weed out crime and criminality from the state, Cross River Governor, Sen. Bassey Otu has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in Bakassi and Akpabuyo Local Government Areas.

In a release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, dated July 3, 2023, movement of people and vehicles have been restricted from 7pm to 6am, beginning from Monday, July 3.

The release further noted that the curfew was necessitated by the government to "ensure safety of lives and forestall breakdown of law and order" in the affected areas.

The Beagle News reports that there have been niggling security threats perpetrated by clandestine groups ranging from militants, kidnappers, to piracy. Such development, it is believed, would arrest the ugly security situation in those areas.
