CRSG Intensifies Fight Against Quackery In Healthcare, Directs All Private Health Facility Owners To Update Licenses

By Ebi COLLINS

Determined to ensure saner private sector health operations in the State, Cross River Government has directed all private health facilities to revalidate their operational licenses.

The Commissioner of Health, Dr Egbe Ayuk, who told a visiting team from National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), recently, that he was alarmed by the spate of quackery and other malfeasances going on in the state healthcare delivery, also informed that the State regulatory bodies would be reorganized and retrained while the anti-quackery task force will be reactivated in the coming days so as to effectively address the wrongdoings in healthcare.

He told the visitors that owners of private hospitals, clinics, maternities, pharmacies, patent medicine vendors, mortuaries among others will be invited within the week to update their licenses, and hoped for their compliance in the true spirit of partnership.

Earlier, the leader of the team and coordinator of NAFDAC in Cross River State, Mr Richard Anichuku had thanked the State Government for the cooperation his organization has enjoyed in the state and promised to strengthen the collaboration through training and regular joint operations with the Cross River State stakeholders.
