C'River Gov't Allocates Additional N500M For Palliatives To Cross Riverians

The Cross River State government has made an additional allocation of 500m to boost the purchase and distribution of palliatives in the state.

The Secretary to the State Government and Chairman Palliatives Distribution Committee,Prof. Anthony Enoh-Owan said the committee has a duty to carry out the Governor's wish to ensure equitable distribution of the items so purchased.

The SSG said those who have gone through the necessary documentation would be captured in the distribution promising to reach all communities and relevant groups with necessary palliatives.

Prof Owan Enoh who was speaking at the flag off of the distribution of palliatives in the state Noted that the youth council, today's recipient was only chosen for the purpose of the event and assured that committee is certain to reach all.

Speaking at the event, the State governor's representive and Deputy Governor, RT.Hon Peter Odey said the palliatives distribution was across party lines and assured that everyone would be reached.

The governor who flagged-off the distribution exercise in the State, acknowledged the hardwork of the committee noting that today's exercise was symbolic as it was only meant to distribute to the Cross River State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

Addressing the people in the well attended event the DIrector General State Emergency Management Agency, Chief Mrs Angela Ogeyi Odey noted that the magnanimity of the the state governor, His Excellency Bassey Edet Otu in bringing above the second phase of distribution at the heels of the first phase where 3000 bags of 50 kg rice was distributed.

The DG stated that the move is intended to strengthen the first phase and assured that the item would get to those it was meant for.

Chief Odey disclosed that the recent distribution of non palliatives incentives touched 9000 households and commended the NEMA for making the provision and distribution of those items possible.
