C'River: Gov. Otu Inaugurate Committees To Tackle Poor  Power Supply 

In a bid to tackle the poor  electricity supply crippling economic activities in Cross River, the state governor, Senator Bassey Otu  has inaugurated the Cross River State Renewable Energy Action Plan Committee as well as the  State Electricity Policy Committee. 


The committees are saddled with the task of providing viable options to the perennial blackout across the state, curtailing overdepedence on electricity distribution companies and explore an independent power plant  progrmme for the state.


The Cross River State Electricity Policy Committee has Prince Eka Williams as Chairman, Dr. Ken Aklah as Alternate Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Etim as Vice Chairman, Dr. Ogboaka as Secretary, Barr. Emmanuel Lifu as Assistant Secretary and Francis Ekpo as Member. 

Others are Dr. Dodeye Igbong, Dr. Peter Ohiero, Chief Ifere Paul, Adi Monkom, Barr. William Itorok, Felix Ayim, and Dr. Cassius Ogar. 

The Cross River State Renewable Energy Action Plan has Prince Eka Williams as Chairman, Dr. Ken Aklah as Alternate Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Etim as Vice Chairman, Dr. Ogboaka as Secretary, Barr. Emmanuel Lifu as Assstant Secretary and Mr. Francis Ekpo as Member. Other members include Dr. Dodeye Igbong, Dr. Peter Ohiero, Chief Ifere Paul, Adi Monkom, Dr. Edu Effiom, Prince Xavier Eyamba, Sunny Erokoro and Ugbizi Cletus as members. 

Inaugurating the committees, the state governor, Senator Bassey Otu charged the committee members to be upright and diligent in their job adding that it is "a rare privilege for them to be selected to handle such onerous tasks" 

Senator Otu, who was represented by the state Commissioner of Power and Renewable Energy, Prince Eka Williams said "the promotion of renewable energy by the state is meant to increase the percentage that renewable energy takes up in the state's energy mix in line with global push for sustainable energy in addressing the global climate crisis" 

Responding on behalf of the committees, the Vice Chairman, Electricity Policy Committee,  Mr. Emmanuel Etim thanked  Senator Bassey Otu for finding them worthy to serve, assuring him  that the committee will do its best to ensure the attainment of set targets.
