OPINION: NO TO VIOLENT AGITATIONS AND PROTEST

Some lost lives, some lost limbs in the October 20,2020 EndSARS protest which left our collective psyche as Cross Riverians with the scars of regrets, resentments, and total trepidation and fear for yet another such episode.

We can't afford a replica of the ugly scenarios which followed that 2020 madness of  Miscreants.

It is even worse madness to begin to assess a Government that is only a year in existence as issuing "bad governance" when the policies, plans and programmes so far highlighted and laid out signpost greater accomplishments ahead.

I think the good people of this Country nay State would have to raise a banner against 'impatience,' the type that the #badgovernanceprotesters are displaying.

Yes,this 'phenomenal impatience' could be as infectious as taking toll on our collective psyche and destinies if we do not arrest it in a drastic manner.

It is one negative energy we must not allow to fester.

Let's therefore keep to the dictum that "eternal vigilance is the price we pay for freedom" by looking out for proponents of the "bad governance" protest with a view to reporting same to Law Enforcement Agencies for prompt action.

Consequently,I join millions of well meaning Nigerians, home and abroad to pass a Vote of Confidence on the present leadership in the Country and particularly of Cross River State, where our very dynamic Governor,Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu has discharged himself creditably well, going by his People-oriented disposition to leadership so far.

The egalitarian posture of his administration as gleaned from the fair and equitable distribution of wealth and resources across the state for instance, has been a further demonstration of great leadership.

Therefore,we can't afford to shoot ourselves in the foot by taking part in any mindless destruction of our common patrimony nor allowing such to fester in our state. That would be insanity!

Rather,we are bent on increasing our level of support and cooperation with the Administration, in the expectations that more of goodwill and positive developments are bound to berth our shores.

This is indeed a call to more confidence in the current leaderships of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sen.Prince Bassey Edet Otu.

Viva Cross River!

Pst. Bassey Ita.
