The Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON), on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Gov. Prince Bassey Edet Otu ahead of 2027 general elections. The endorsement took place in Calabar at a grand reception organized in honor of Their Excellencies President Bola Almed Tinubu and Gov Bassey Edet Otu.

Present at the Event were, Gov Otu, his Deputy, and several political dignitaries from across the state.

Delivering a keynote speech, the Director General of CRISPON, Dr Michael Nku Abuo recalled the group’s longstanding loyalty and commitment to both leaders. He highlighted the extensive mobilization efforts CRISPON has carried out across the state’s senatorial districts, noting that in the Southern District alone, over 7,000 members from 76 wards participated in previous rallies, with similar engagements held in the Central and Northern districts.

“In less than two years of Your Excellency’s administration, the transformation across sectors has been nothing short of remarkable,” Dr Abuo said, praising Governor Otu’s achievements in health, infrastructure, agriculture, education, and solid mineral exploration.

He lauded the state’s recent collaboration with the Russian government’s National Geological Institute, which is mapping and quantifying Cross River’s mineral wealth—a feat he said past governments had never achieved.

Despite limited resources, he noted that CRISPON mobilized thousands without financial support, using personal contributions to transport and organize members. “Under rain, under sun, without money—we always deliver,” he declared.

The DG also addressed criticisms regarding appointments, affirming his loyalty and emphasizing CRISPON’s role as “root soldiers” of the administration. He reaffirmed the group’s support, pledging that they would not fail the governor or the president.

In response, Governor Otu delivered an inspiring speech, reflecting on the state’s journey from hardship to hope. He credited the people’s belief and support for the strides made under his administration.

“We have navigated the most dangerous bends with God’s help,” the governor stated. “In two years, we’ve achieved more than I ever imagined—not by my strength, but by divine grace and the people's backing.”

He reaffirmed his “People First” governance philosophy and promised to host town hall meetings across senatorial districts to maintain direct communication with citizens. “I have no skeletons in my cupboard,” he said. “I came to serve, not to build wealth.”

Addressing the issue of employment and youth development, Governor Otu emphasized agriculture and private sector participation as key economic drivers. He urged young people to stay committed, assuring them that better opportunities are on the way.

“You must suffer something to become something,” he said. “I’ve been a farmer since 1988. Nothing is too hard for a determined heart.”

The governor concluded by acknowledging CRISPON’s sacrifices and calling for continued patience and solidarity as his administration works to uplift all sectors of the state.
