CP GRIMAH BROKERS PEACE BETWEEN HERDSMEN AND FARMERS IN IKOT_ IYANG COMMUNITY, ODUKPANI LGA

The Cross River State Police Command wishes to inform the public that on 3rd December, 2024, at approximately 0900hrs, a clash occurred between Fulani herdsmen on transit and resident farmers in Ikot _ Iyang Community, Odukpani Local Government Area.

Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Augustine Grimah, immediately directed the Area Commander, Akamkpa and Tactical Commanders to swiftly intervene, restore peace, and ensure normalcy in the affected area.

In a series of peace meetings facilitated by the Police Command, the following stakeholders and representatives were in attendance:

The collaborative dialogue and mediation efforts have yielded positive results, and normalcy has since been restored to the community.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Augustine Grimah, strongly advises bloggers and social media influencers to refrain from spreading unverified information that is capable of inciting tension, misleading the public, and undermining the integrity of the Police Force.

The Cross River State Police Command remains committed to upholding justice, safeguarding lives and property, and ensuring peace in all communities in line with constitutional provisions.

Members of the public are encouraged to rely only on official statements from the Police Command for accurate and verified updates.
