Council Chairman, Theresa Ushie, Storms Bekwarra in Triumphant Homecoming, Pledges Restoration of Peace

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, the Executive Chairman of Bekwarra local government area, Hon. Theresa Ushie, received a heroic welcome as she visited her hometown for a triumphant homecoming.
The atmosphere was convicial as a massive crowd gathered to receive her.
Present at the event were various cultural and social groups, including the Bekwarra Women, Yoruba Women Community, Youth Groups, and members of the Hausa and Tiv communities, among others.
The people affectionately referred to her as the “Queen Mother” and “Natasha of Bekwarra,” in recognition of her leadership and contributions.
In her address to the community, Hon. Ushie expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming show of love and solidarity.
She assured the people of her commitment to building a more peaceful and prosperous Bekwarra.
“I thank you all for coming out in such large numbers to welcome me. I do not take this support for granted. Together, we will build a better and greater Bekwarra,” she said.
She also announced that all previous misunderstandings had been resolved, emphasizing unity and renewed strength.
“We have reconciled our differences. I have returned not just as a leader but as family. Today marks a new beginning for us all. With God on our side, we will continue to unite and work together in love. I bring greetings and goodwill from our father, the Governor of Cross River State, and his gracious wife, Bishop Mrs. Eyoawan Otu. She encouraged us to emulate her path as a servant of God, and today, I stand before you to assure Bekwarra and Cross River State that peace has returned,” she added
Also speaking, Hon, Thompson Adie, leader of the Council, commended the occasion, noting that the massive turnout symbolized unity and progress.
“This triumphant entry signifies oneness. We pray this spirit of unity continues. Peace has fully returned to Bekwarra, and this is a step forward for the betterment of our people,” he stated.
The community reaffirmed their unwavering support for Hon. Ushie, offering prayers and blessings for her successful tenure.
As part of her visit, Hon. Ushie presented food items and cash gifts to the community, further demonstrating her commitment to their well-being.
