BREAKING: AKWA IBOM GOV'T TO DISSOLVE EXCO TODAY

The Akwa Ibom State Government (AKSG) had announced that the State Executive Council Meeting will take place today by noon at the Exco Chambers, Governor's Office in Uyo. Following the meeting, the Exco members will be dissolved, marking the end of their tenure.

To commemorate the contributions and service of the outgoing commissioners, a Valedictory Dinner will be hosted at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Uyo, in the evening. This event is designed to honor the efforts of the dissolved EXCO members, acknowledging their roles and achievements during their time in office.

Those who resumed work in their former ministries included, Eno Ibanga – Works and Fire Service, Ini Ememobong – Information; Uko Udom – Justice and Attorney General; Monday Uko – Youth and Sport; Linus Nkan – Finance; Iniobong Ekong – Lands; Bassey Okon – Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport; Imo Moffat – Ministry of Science and Technology; Augustine Umoh – Health; Frank Archibong – Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Others are, Ini Adiakpan – Women Affairs and Social Welfare; Idongesit Etiebet – Education; Raphael Bassey – Housing; Bob Emem – Economic Development; Offiong Offor – Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Other commissioners, were redeployed from their former ministries to new ones.

For instance, Charles Udoh, former commissioner for Environment was moved to Culture and Tourism, while Orman Esin who headed Culture and Tourism before was moved to Transportation. Hon. Uno Uno, who was moved from Transportation to Environment and Mineral Resources, is now the Executive Chairman of Urue Offong Oruku Local Government Area. Similarly, Aniefiok Nkom who was the Commissioner manning the Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning, is now the Executive Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.

Others included Camilus Umoh, was assigned to the Ministry of Power, Enobong Moffat, Water Resources and Sanitation, John Etim, Trade and Investment.

The only new commissioner then, Koko Essien, was assigned the newly created Ministry of Internal Security, while Amanam Nkanga retained his portfolio as Special Adviser – Bureau of Political and Social Re-orientation.

The Commissioners attended the first cabinet on Friday, 28 July, 2023, marking the beginning of their collective journey in governance. As the day unfolds, the state looks forward to the Valedictory Dinner, celebrating a chapter of service while anticipating the new directions that the governor will give.
