Benin Attack: APC tackles PDP Over Allegation of Selective Justice against Police

From Imafidon OSAZUA (Benin)

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC) on Sunday  tackled the People Democratic Party (PDP) over allegation of selective justice leveled against the police investigating the attack by political thugs on the 18th of July.

Reacting to the allegation,Edo APC  Chairman,Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, in a press statement he signed and made available to journalists in Benin-City said the allegation of selective justice against  the police by the PDP is deceptive.

He said, those who came  to welcome Shaibu and  Okpebholo on that day couldn't have shot at themselves.

He statement reads in part.

"In response to the deceptive allegation of selective justice leveled against the Nigerian Police by the People's Democratic Party, The APC condemns the reckless statement signed by Mr. Anthony Aiziegbemi, chairman of the party.

"For a man that was kidnapped not too long ago on his way from the residence of Governor Godwin Obaseki, he should realize that the criminals terrorizing the state are enemies within them.

"What the police deserves from him is praise-for rescuing him from his kidnappers den and not baseless castigation.

"The two cases Aiziegbemi mentioned in his statement, demanded appropriate urgent attention by the police to discourage other PDP leaders and members who are determined to visit violence on the electorates before, during and after the September 21, 2024 election, which the PDP has vowed to win by all means possible.

"What Aziegbemi is short of saying is that, the APC supporters who had come to welcome the reinstated deputy governor Philip Shaibu and the APC governorship candidate, Senator Okpebholo, decided to shoot at themselves. The incident does not demand special investigation skill to establish the fact that the killers of Inspector Akor were dispatched by PDP to stop the convoy from leaving the airport."

He said the APC sees Aziegbemi complaint as mere excuse for the imminent defeat that awaits PDP and their candidate on September 21. "We are advising him to reserve his tears till Sunday September 22, 2024, when the Independent National Electoral Commission would have pronounced Senator Okpebholo winner."
