APC Kicks-off Preparations for C'River Council election

The Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has kicked off preparations for the November, 2 Council elections in the state.

The party Secretariat along Murtala Mohammed Highway became a beehive of activities as aspirants across the state besieged the premises to obtain Expression of Intent Form.

In an electoral guidelines for the conduct of primaries released by the party, it stated that the governor has "graciously subsidized the cost of intent form by Ninety percent".

The guidelines which was published by the Hon. Emmanuel Edem Inyang JP, State Publicity Secretary also said Nomination Form shall be issued after the state caucus meeting for a fee to be made known on the 14th of October by 12 noon. 

He added that female aspirants and physically challenged aspirants who emerged after the State caucus meeting shall pay only fifty percent of the cost of Nomination form.

The publicity secretary also disclosed that nomination of candidates for councillorship as well as chairmanship shall be by consensus.

Dr. Fred Okim, a Chairmanship aspirant for Yala Local Government who obtained the Expression of Intent Form promised to create a difference by expanding the scope of development. 

He said his council has a difficult terrain with hard to reach areas and so promised to prioritize creation of  road infrastructure to link up these communities.

He also stressed that as a former vice chairman in the council and chairman boundary/conflict resolution committee, a robust security network involving security agencies and local hunters will be created.

About 18 chairmanship seats and 196 councillorship seats will be up for grabs and major political parties in the state have indicated interest to participate in the polls. END
