The Transition Committee Chairman of Ini LGA, Hon. Inibehe Umah, has disbursed over two million naira and distributed wrappers to some widows in Ini local government area Area.
The gesture was to mark his 2024 birthday and in support of Gov. Umo Eno's kind generousity to widows.
The event took place on Saturday, June 29, 2024, during the commissioning and handing over ceremony of the Arise Compassionate Home, built and donated by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, to Mrs Alice Udo Akpan, a widow in Ibam Obot Enen, Ini local government area.
Speaking at the memorable event, Umah commended the Governor for recognising the less privileged and the vulnerable through his laudable projects, which are aimed at elevating them.
Narrating the deplorable condition of the house the widow was staying in before the intervention of the Governor to provide her with a befitting home, Hon. Umah said the house was not fit for habitation as the widow would pass through terrible moments whenever it rained.
"I commend the Governor for changing the lives of the widow and those of other widows across the State in a very memorable and remarkable way through the shelter initiative.
"I celebrate my birthday with the widows by putting smiles on the faces of over 100 widows who came to felicitate with the recipient of the Arise Compassionate Home.
"Your Excellency, we are in love with your partnership with the Ini people, as this will continually bring tremendous progress," he stated.
The chairman also disbursed cash gifts and distributed wrappers to the widows as well as 42-inch TV set to Mrs. Alice Udo Akpan, the beneficiary of the Arise Compassionate Home.
Handing over the house on behalf of the Governor, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh, commended the leaders and people of Ini Local government area for the warm reception and continued support for the administration of Pastor Umo Eno.
He commended the Chairman for the leadership he is providing at the grassroots. He also commended the stakeholders for their cooperation and contribution to his administration.
Present at the event include Dr. John J. Etim, Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Prof Imo Moffat, Commissioner for Science and Technology, and Hon. Nsikan-Abasi Umoekpo, SA, Humanitarian Services, member representing Ini State Constituency, Hon. Lawrence Udoide, Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Offiong Offor, Honorary Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Projects, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Bassey, immediate past Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Glory Edet.
Others are former Chairmen of Ini LGA, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ebe, Rt. Hon. Sir Israel Idaisin, Vice Chairman, Ini Transition Committee, Hon.
