Ebonyi: LG Elections Allow People To Choose Their Grassroots Leaders, Says Eze, EBSIEC Chairman

The Chairman of Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC), Chief Jossy Eze, has stated that council elections will allow the people to choose their grassroots leaders.
Eze, represented by a member of the commission, Evangelist Nweze Offor, at a sensitisation programme on the election held at Afikpo local government council secretariat, challenged the people of Afikpo to come out in their numbers on the day of election to exercise their franchise freely.
He said election is very important because it is one of the ways of exercising ones civic responsibilities.
Speaking, the Chairman of Afikpo LGA represented by the LG Secretary, Mrs. Priscilla Idam, assured of the complete support of the council towards the election and commended the good leadership of the state Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
Mrs. Idam urged the people of Afikpo LGA to shun the habit of displaying nonchalant attitude during election period and appealed to them to desist from such ugly act by coming out en masse to cast their votes for Engr Chief Timothy Nwachi in the forthcoming council election.
Speaking, All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate for Afikpo North LGA, Chief (Engr.) Timothy Nwachi, described Governor Francis Nwifuru as a true democrat, assuring that the parties would abide by the rules to ensure peace, orderliness and tranquility.
In their separate lectures, Chief Nweze Offor, Mrs. Ijeoma Orji and a representative of National Orientation Agency, Mrs. Nnenna Kalu, highlighted the importance of political participation and called on youths to shun electoral violence and thuggery.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Afikpo, Ezeogo Ewa Elechi, assured of their full support and participation in the electoral process.
