Super Eagle of Nigeria and Atalanta FC of Italy winger Ademola Lookman wins 2024 African Player of the year (Male Category).

Lookman won fellow contenders, Simon Adingra Of Ivory Coast, Achraf Hakimi of Morocco, Ronwen Williams of South Africa and Serhou Guirassy of Guinea in the annual CAF Awards held in Marrakesh, Morocco.

Lookman’s ability to perform consistently at both club and international levels highlights his exceptional talent.

His two goals secured Nigeria’s quarter-final spot during the 2023 AFCON, and his decisive goal against Angola in the quarterfinals propelled Nigeria to the semifinals.

The goal poacher has been a key player for Atalanta in Serie A and European competitions where he scored a remarkable hat-trick in the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League final, leading Atalanta to a 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen earning them their first European title. This victory marked Atalanta’s first-ever major continental honor in their 117-year history.

Also, Barbra Banda of Zambia wins African female player of the year winning Morocco’s Sanaa Mssoudy and Nigerian super falcon goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.

Nnadozie though lost the African player of the year, won the African female goal keeper of the year award.
