Veteran journalist and media personality, Dele Momodu, has responded to reports about protests in Ghana where some citizens were seen demanding that Nigerians leave their country.

Speaking during an interview with Arise Television, Momodu explained that the situation isn’t as serious as people are making it out to be on social media.

According to him, the recent tension began when a Nigerian man in Ghana claimed he wanted to establish his own kingdom on Ghanaian land. The local authorities and people strongly disagreed, saying it wasn’t acceptable.

“This particular instance has to do with a Nigerian gentleman who said he wanted to establish his own kingdom on Ghanaian soil, and they said No, we're not going to agree, you can't do it. He said he wants to celebrate the New Yams festival,” he said.

Momodu explained that the Ghanaian side told him there was tension in the area and it wouldn’t be safe or allowed. However, the man insisted on going ahead with his plans.

Momodu, who has lived in Ghana for nearly 30 years, advised Nigerians to always respect the laws and customs of the countries they live in. He emphasized the importance of behaving peacefully and understanding the local culture.

“What I learnt as a young man is that when you’re in Rome, you behave like the Romans,” he said.

He added that he has lived quietly in Ghana without major issues because he follows the rules and respects the environment.
