UNICAL Alumni Felicitates Prof. Offiong on Appointment as 12th VC
The National Executive Committee of the University of Calabar Alumni Association has formally congratulated Professor Offiong Offiong on his appointment as the 12th Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar.
In a letter dated November 3, 2025, and signed by the National President, Barr. Paul O. Eshiemomoh, and the General Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Akpan John, the Association described Professor Offiong’s appointment as a well-deserved recognition of his exceptional competence, visionary leadership, and distinguished record of service.
The Alumni commended the Vice Chancellor Designate for his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the institution and the larger academic community, noting that his leadership style has consistently reflected excellence, innovation, and a results-oriented approach.
“Your appointment is a testament to your capacity, resilience, and commitment to transformative leadership,” the statement read. “We are confident that you will bring your wealth of experience to bear in advancing the University’s vision of becoming an institution of national pride and global repute.”
The Alumni body further expressed delight that its sustained advocacy for the emergence of a Malabite, a graduate of the University with a proven record of integrity and performance has been realized through Professor Offiong’s appointment.
It assured the new Vice Chancellor of the Association’s continuous support and collaboration towards repositioning the University of Calabar for greater academic excellence, research innovation, and international visibility.
“We pray that you are continually blessed with wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as you steer the affairs of our great institution,” the statement concluded.
