Millwall Winger Femi Azeez Picks Nigeria Over England, Spain
By Akpo ESCO
Millwall forward Femi Azeez has committed his international future to Nigeria, opting to represent the Super Eagles despite eligibility for England and Spain.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form for the Lions this season, registering 9 goals and 8 assists in 34 Championship appearances. His performances recently earned him a spot in the Championship Team of the Season.
According to Soccernet, the Nigeria Football Federation has already made contact with Azeez. With no youth caps for either England or Spain, the winger is free to switch allegiance without FIFA clearance.
Azeez’s decision hands Super Eagles head coach Éric Sékou Chelle another attacking option ahead of upcoming fixtures. Reports indicate he could make his debut as early as the Unity Cup in May.
The news was confirmed by Africa Sport Channel in Europe.
Azeez now joins a growing pool of dual-nationality players opting to play for Nigeria.
