Man City beat Premier League rivals to sign Leicester City's 2012-born Nigerian winger

After agreeing a deal to sign Mishel Nduka from Arsenal, Manchester City have made another high-profile academy addition involving a player of Nigerian descent.

According to youth football guru The Talent Hunter, Elo Onuchukwu has joined the Manchester City academy on schoolboy terms after deregistering from Leicester City at the end of last season.

Deregistration from a parent club brings a player’s official registration to an end, allowing them to explore opportunities with other clubs.

Several Premier League clubs were interested in Onuchukwu, but the highly-rated winger has opted to continue his development at Manchester City.

Born in 2012, Onuchukwu is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young prospects in English youth football.

He spent seven years at Leicester City and regularly played two years above his age group, highlighting his potential at a very young age.

Although eligible to represent England, Onuchukwu has hinted at a possible future with Nigeria. 

He keeps abreast of developments in Nigerian football by following the Nigeria Football Federation and Super Eagles on social media.

The youngster also follows several Super Eagles stars, including Victor Osimhen, Cyriel Dessers, Ola Aina, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Frank Onyeka, Nathan Tella, Stanley Nwabali and Semi Ajayi.
