Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong has commended the Commission’s Board and Management for their renewed commitment to completing projects across the region.

He gave the commendation during the commissioning of the NDDC Delta State Office Complex in Warri on Friday.

Senator Ekpenyong praised the Commission for its new sense of purpose and accountability, urging the Board not to relent in its efforts to deliver on its mandate of transforming the Niger Delta.

“This office complex stands as a testament to the Commission’s dedication to institutionalizing its presence and strengthening operations in the Niger Delta,” he said.

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, who officially commissioned the edifice, described it as a symbol of progress and partnership between the state government and the NDDC.

He reiterated his administration’s readiness to collaborate with the Commission on key infrastructure projects, including the Warri-Escravos Road. “Development requires collaboration, vision, and innovation. We must continue to work together to attract more projects such as roads, schools, and hospitals,” the Governor stated.

The Minister of Niger Delta Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, lauded the NDDC for implementing President Bola Tinubu’s directive to complete abandoned projects across the region.

He said the ongoing commissioning of roads, bridges, and electrification projects in various states reflects the Renewed Hope Agenda in action. “This Delta office complex is not only magnificent but will also enhance efficiency and provide a conducive working environment,” the Minister noted.

NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, described the commissioning as a major milestone in the Commission’s institutional expansion, adding that the Delta complex marks the third state office inaugurated after those in Cross River and Bayelsa. He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with state governments and stakeholders to improve the quality of life for Niger Deltans.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the NDDC Board, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, highlighted the Board’s role in providing strategic direction and ensuring transparency in project execution. “We have adopted the KPMG working framework to enhance our processes and internal reforms,” he stated.

In her goodwill message, Chairman of the House Committee on NDDC, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, congratulated the Commission for sustaining momentum in project delivery and urged continued focus on people-oriented initiatives.

The newly commissioned Delta State Office Complex is equipped with modern facilities and is expected to improve operational efficiency and service delivery within the region.
