NASS: Reps Pass Etteh’s Bill to Establish Petroleum Training Institute in Akwa Ibom

The House of Representatives has passed the bill sponsored by Hon. Okpolupm Etteh seeking to establish the Petroleum Training Institute in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom State, marking a significant step toward strengthening Nigeria’s technical manpower in the oil and gas sector.

The proposed legislation aims to create a specialised institution dedicated to instruction, training, and research in petroleum technology, producing the skilled technicians and professionals needed to power the nation’s energy industry.

Hon. Etteh described the passage as a major milestone in his commitment to expanding opportunities for young people in Akwa Ibom and across the country, expressing confidence that the institute will play a strategic role in building a highly skilled workforce for the petroleum sector.
