Cross River Launches Mandatory Land Records Validation, Warns Defaulters of Sanctions
The Cross River State Government has began a Land Records Reconciliation Exercise for all government land allottees and Certificate of Occupancy holders.
The exercise which is being coordinated by the Cross River Geographic Information Agency (CRGIA), aims to recover backlogged ground rent, update records and tighten land administration.
A statement from the CRGIA says the exercise will run from Feb 25–April 30, 2026 and participation is mandatory.
It warns that anyone who fails to reconcile by May 1, 2026 risks sanctions, including revocation or cancellation of their C of O and reallocation of the plot.
Officials advise affected owners to visit CRGIA headquarters opposite Metropolitan Hotel on Murtala Muhammed Highway, Calabar, to regularise their documents and payments.
